Coming Up With Outstanding Essay Topics For College Subjects
When you are in college, writing essays will become commonplace. It will be something you must complete with regularity. But writing essays is not all bad. In fact, learning the basics of essay writing can get you through all manner of college level requirements in school. One of the first steps in writing a college level essay is coming up with an appropriate topic.
When in college one of two things will happen: the first is that the topic will be handed to you. Your teacher might select a topic, or a broad subject, and ask you to write on it. The second is that you have the ability to select a topic of your choosing. This type of freedom brings with it the opportunity to really go after something you enjoy, something you care about, and not just something you were assigned.
In order to select an outstanding essay topic, you should do the following:

Think about what interests you. Think about what items you naturally read about, or what items you are drawn to. If you have a free hour and you want to watch a documentary, what subject matters do you focus on? What interests you? Is there something about which you are truly passionate?

Think about what topics you typically argue among family. If you strike up a conversation with someone at school, work, or home, what is the subject matter typically about? What items do you naturally debate with others? What topics do you know inside and out?

Take some time to reflect upon what items you have previously studied in school. It might surprise you to find that most of your classes will intertwine to some degree. You might be reading about the history of the Congo and King Leopold in your African studies class, only to find that you can apply that exact topic to your biography assignment in your English rhetoric course, or to your term paper in your history course. You can take something from another aspect of your academic career or another course and apply it to your current situation or your current assignment.
